NEW 2016 MUSIC: Admittedly, this month has almost entirely been about Bowie but I did make a little time for the latest album from Chicago's Tortoise, their first new material to be released in seven long years. I currently hold a ticket to see the band perform live in early March, so I will definitely be spinning this album more often as the evening approaches, as well as thereafter.

NEW 2016 MUSIC: It has been 10 long years since I have last heard of any new material from Adrian Belew, and now, it has finally arrived with this new release, which is essentially a small nugget of what he has truly indulged himself with. With "Flux," Belew has invented an app in which the music contained here, from mere sonic snippets to full songs, can be re-contextualized into a myriad of listening configurations, thus ensuring the listening experience can be different every single time. For this CD, however, and unless one is to place it into a shuffle mode, it is a start to finish affair that only reconfirms that Belew is unquestionably one of our most musically frisky, proficient and relentlessly inventive minds.
