WSPC SESSION NOTES FOR OCTOBER 2013

FROM THE DJ'S STUDIO DESK:

What is a song?

I have been mulling that question over for a spell now and at the time of writing this introductory note to you, I have actually begun writing a new posting that explores this concept a bit while also celebrating the musical gifts bestowed upon us all by the likes of Jon Brion and Led Zeppelin. We'll see where that takes me...

With that, I wish that there were simply more hours in a day as there is just so much to write about...and happily so as more and more new music is being released at a fever pitch for this Fall season. October just may prove to be as equally fruitful as the previous month with new releases from my hero above heroes, Paul McCartney and a new double album (!) from Arcade Fire looming largely.

In addition to that, I am hoping to finish piecing together a written sampling of four other releases from September, a new piece exploring the subversive dark underbelly of seemingly shiny pop music via Gnarls Barkley's debut album (just in time for Halloween) as well as compiling the monthly playlist and the monthly "On This Day In Music" feature, which will house the release dates of an INCREDIBLE amount of now classic albums from classic artists (what a different time it was to live through this era of music).

So, with that, I sincerely hope that you keep listening, reading and enjoying all that I am offering. And as always, grab your microphones, guitars and your drum sticks...get your vinyl, your cassettes, your CDs and...JUST PRESS PLAY!!!!
